Summer Night Digital Dream

Celebrated Swiss visual artist Pascal Yerly is set to fascinate the audience at the Grand Reception of the Swiss Innovation Week with his large-scale, poetic and aesthetic art project on 6 July. The 30-minute exhilarating show echoes the innovation week’s theme of digitalization. It will lead the audience to experience digitalization particularly in relation with nature. Using creative expression supported by innovative applications of technology, it will not only reflect, but also unify diverse cultural dimensions from both Switzerland and China. Video mapping and sound sampling live performance in interaction with different elements such as textiles and synthetic sheep skins will be covering and surrounding a bamboo installation that captures visuals. The visualswill also expand to the trees on the embassy compound. The projections will create kinetic 3D impressions and the live soundscape will bring a deep and immersive experience within the natural environment of the embassy. The soundscape will carry feelings and openness of sounds of future with electronic beats and joyful melancholia, which will create more intensive moments that could make audience move on the dancy vibrations with delightfulness.

Pascal Yerly

Pascal Yerly is a native Swiss artist active in visual arts over the past two decades with exhibitions in the United States, Switzerland, Germany and China. His work and research often engage contemporary media and communication perspectives in relation with nature. His vision expresses the idea of human nurturing a balancing mind connected with the earth, but nonetheless evolving with technologies and disruptive experimental work. In the late 1990s, Pascal Yerly worked as an assistant for contemporary artist Tony Oursler in New York. He has been working as an art professor in Switzerland for years and has received a number of awards in art competitions. www.pascalyerly.ch
