Responsible Security Management in Complex Environments: Bridging Principles and Practice

Against the background of the growing overseas presence of Chinese companies, including in environments affected by conflict and instability, DCAF and the ICRC are committed to reinforcing their engagement with Chinese actors. DCAF and the ICRC have developed a toolkit to assist companies in managing the security of their operations in an effective and sustainable way. The DCAF-ICRC Toolkit has been translated into Chinese for better accessibility to Chinese stakeholders and is to be launched at this event during the Swiss Innovation Week. It constitutes a practical tool offering a large set of good practices on interacting with public security forces and private security companies, establishing security arrangements with host states and on community security. Through these efforts the DCAF-ICRC team aims to engage with Chinese actors on responsible security management in complex environments protecting the livelihood and dignity of those affected by business operations.
